The Wise Group: evaluation of New Routes
Because of our work, the Wise Group could use evidence to support its successful application for further funding from the Scottish Government.
New Routes is a Scotland-wide mentoring service that supports prolific re-offenders. It offers young men under the age of 25 a ‘through-the-gate’ service; providing practical and emotional support to help them move back into the community and begin to build a life that is free of offending.
Hall Aitken was commissioned to help evaluate the programme’s impact and progress towards its outcomes.
Stage one: gathering evidence. Our work involved case studies, focus groups and a data review to identify the impact of the project and highlight any issues with its delivery.
Stage two: Clear action-focused reporting. We produced interim and final reports and a cost-benefit analysis. All this highlighted New Routes’ many successes, some learning points, and the services that offenders’ families need.
“I think the report was spot on.”
