Six Degrees: service development
Because of our work: Six Degrees secured £60,000 Health Education North West to support their further development of the service. Six Degrees went on to secure a further £160,000 from Innovate UK and continues to develop this successful support for people living with dementia.
Six Degrees Social Enterprise is a Community Interest Company and social enterprise based in Salford. It supports for people who are experiencing mental health problems and its social mission is to build resilient communities in which people with problems such as depression and anxiety are accepted, supported and equipped with skills to deal with the challenges they face.
Six degrees has a strong record of innovation. In recent years there has been growing recognition of the importance of supporting the families and carers of People Living with Dementia (PLwD). In Insert date, Six Degrees worked with Hall Aitken to explore the potential for a new service, New Routes, to improve communication with people living with dementia.
Stage one: scoping ambition and capacity
We worked with the Chief Executive and his team to determine their ambitions for the project. We also sought to understand the challenges in developing such an innovative product while delivering other excellent services.
Stage two: workshopping New Routes
Together with the team and its partners, we helped develop the concept of New Routes. Building on this vision, we put together a pilot workshop. We delivered the workshop in four centres with professionals whose feedback we used to inform our approach.
Stage 3: finalising the programme and applying for funding
Upon completion of the scoping exercise, we developed a second round of workshops. The results of this second round of consultations were used to prepare a grant application to the Health Education North West (HENW).
"Hall Aitken’s support moved us significantly forward in helping us develop our new service"
