Scottish Learning Partnership: support in bidding for funds for adult education.
SLP is the national partnership bringing together the interests of adult learners and providers in Scotland. By working to develop equality in the relationship between learners and providers, it aims to:
- advocate the common interests of learners and providers to key policy makers and politicians
- promote non-formal adult and family learning through the ALW and Family Learning Week campaigns
- create, design and deliver innovative projects that reach the most excluded groups
In 2015, having previously submitted unsuccessful applications to the Big Lottery Fund, the SLP was keen to optimise its chances of winning additional funds. The partnership asked Hall Aitken for support in its bidding process.
Stage one: understanding the Scottish Learning Partnership. We facilitated a workshop with key stakeholders and the SLP’s core strategic leads. Backed by research, we identified the needs and provisions that existed in specific localities.
Stage two: Theory of Change. We clarified the changes SLP expected and then agreed on how they would track and report on these changes.
Stage three: outlining an irresistible proposition. We looked at the funder’s priorities and objectives. We then made sure that the SLP addressed the funder’s requirements and could make a strong case for funding.
Thank you for sending me a copy of your first draft Stage two application, which I consider is of a high standard when compared to the majority, for which you should be commended.
